The Fathering Circle joins The Wilma Theater as part of the Accessible Productions Initiative
As part of this year’s Accessible Productions Initiative (API), The Wilma Theater welcomes The Fathering Circle as Community Partner for The America Play. Members of The Fathering Circle presented a selection of spoken word, poems, and stories inspired by the play, and hosted a talkback with the director and lead actor, Lindsay Smiling.
Talkback – Sunday, May 24th, after the 2 pm show
Open Mic Night – Monday, June 1st, 7 PM.
Director of Education and Community Practice, Jess Conda, and Community Practice Coordinator, Mieke D, helped coordinate the partnership with TFC. Eric Marsh, Sr, Co-Founder of The Fathering Circle and project partners Serita Lewis of URBN Seek and Derrick Dean of Derrick Dean Media, pulled together a host of poets and artists to interpret the themes of The America Play, written by Suzan-Lori Parks.
